Barbara Simons, a North Dakota native, launched her quilting business, Lone Star Quilting, in January of 1997. Six months later the business was moved to downtown Devils Lake in a new and upcoming quilt shop, Rose's Stitch -n- Sew.

With a strong sewing background, including everything from children's garments, women's formalwear to an upholstery business (which was owned and operated in Drayton, ND) and now quilting, thread and fabric has been a constant in Barb's life.

Purchasing yet another industrial sewing machine seemed a natural progression at the time. Over the years, Lone Star Quilting has grown into a full time business with quilt tops arriving from all over the United States, keeping Barb and her son, Ben very busy. Ben helps prepare and clean the tops.

Surrounded with the inspiration of her grandmother's quilts adorning her walls, Barb has stretched her imagination and creativity by doing interpretational or custom quilting. Quilt shows have grown in popularity and with that has come some awesome quilt tops waiting to be quilted with trapunto or the fun new variegated threads.

As Barb says, "Piecing a quilt top really is an artform. And through my machine quilting business I am able to bring that quilt top to completion and enhance it with thread and design work that will truly make the completed quilt a keepsake."
